Paul A. Fuhs, Ph.D. is a CRA Senior Associate. He has spent his career in the health care industry leading large health plan and medical center organizations. From 1993 to 2003, he was President and CEO of HealthPlus of Michigan, a not-for-profit independent mid-Michigan health plan. He had joined HealthPlus as its COO in 1991. Before joining HealthPlus, Dr. Fuhs held several leadership positions at Hurley Medical Center, a 500-bed teaching hospital and regional referral center located in Flint, Michigan. He began at Hurley in 1978 as the Director of Management Services and progressed through several roles of greater administrative responsibility, spending the last six years of his tenure as its Associate Hospital Director. Dr. Fuhs has Bachelor of Science and Engineering, Master of Science and Engineering, and Doctor of Philosophy degrees in Industrial and Operations Engineering from The University of Michigan. He has held board leadership positions for several healthcare industry and community organizations, including past President of the Michigan Association of Health Plans, the Michigan Health and Hospital Association, the Greater Flint Health Coalition, the Greater Flint Area Focus Council, the United Way of Genesee County, the Tall Pine Council-Boy Scouts of America, and Baker College.
