Gregory A. Young has been a CRA Senior Associates since the formation of CRA in 1991. He spent the first 25 years of his career in manufacturing operations and the logistics associated with the movement of parts to and from the manufacturing process. In 1973, after three years with Motorola, he founded Lyons Integrated Systems, Inc., a manufacturer of advanced machine tools and manufacturing cells for factory automation serving the Fortune 500. He expanded the company into three business groups comprised of seven closely held companies with manufacturing licenses in Japan and Germany. Mr. Young has extensive hands-on experience managing manufacturing, research and development, engineering, marketing, sales, finance, and strategic plan implementation. He has in-depth experience in operations and performance improvement in job shop manufacturing plants. He sold Lyons in 1988 to an international machine tool builder where he became president of two divisions and corporate Vice President of their eight division that became public over NASDEQ in 1990. He was viewed as one of their most industry literate senior managers and was used as a strategist, troubleshooter, analyst, implementation expert and member of their senior acquisition team. In 1995, Mr. Young co-founded a Michigan based investment banking company focused on the acquisition and sale of closely held companies. As Chairman, Managing Director, he is closely involved in all aspects of analysis, due diligence, valuation, management assessments, management development, performance improvement and public and private financing of merger and acquisition related activities. Mr. Young has both an undergraduate degree and an MBA from Western Michigan University. In addition, he completed both Tool and Die and Machine Tool Builder Apprenticeships by age twenty. He is a member of the Society of Manufacturing Engineers and serves as a Director of three Midwest companies.
